children have few to NO swimming skills
Between 2005- 2014 there were about 3,536 drownings a year in the United States; 80% of which were male. One in five drownings are children age 14 and under in addition to another five that seek emergency care for nonfatal submersion injuries. The greatest disparity is amongst 11- 12-year-old African Americans. African Americans drown at a rate 10 times that of their white counterparts.
Many minorities and those from households with less than $50,000 have few to no swimming skills. When parents are nonproficient swimmers their children are more likely to become nonproficient swimmers.
My goal with Fluid Motion Swimming is to do my part to change the above narrative. I love swimming and would like nothing more than to share my talents with the masses regardless of price. With each purchase of a “Contested Waters package” a free group swim lesson will go to a minority/ low-income swimmer from an at-risk demographic for drowning in addition to your six lessons.
